Yea, it looks like a lot of crazy fun. I won't pay 30 bucks for it, it is an alpha- but maybe 15 if it goes -50% or something.
Anyone try Rust either? Another early access game, survival based like Day Z without zombies.
asked someone I know about Rust, they said they tried it.
report goes along the lines of not bad. only about 10% complete. had zombies, they were pulled replaced by bears and wolves until something better can be coded. HAVE to log out in a hidden / safe area or can be killed and looted. Better if played in groups.
Told her about .biz and asked her to at least check it out, maybe sign up and give a better review for rust.

Luffy you're thinking of Arma II, DayZ mod which is what it used to be, like Anto said, now it's a standalone
Ah yes that's it. Wasn't impressed with War Z coz it literally copied the DayZ. Was a big law suite about it too If I remember correctly. Its fun until the novelty wears off then its just frustrating. Especially if you mission for like the whole day all patient and sneaky likes then get sniped and robbed by a 12 year old with authority issues. LOL. Its sorta fun in groups though. One sniper took out a bunch of my buds and I in a town once...fragging annoying lol. I had good loot and a chocolate bar. I really wanted that chocolate bar....

I was browsing steam as I do and I checked out Rust...it actually looks epic.
Warning Contains violence and caveman themed nudity.
About the Game The only aim in Rust is to survive.
To do this you will need to overcome struggles such as hunger, thirst and cold. Build a fire. Build a shelter. Kill animals for meat. Protect yourself from other players. Create alliances with other players and together form a town.

Sorry for the double post. Bought the game, Rust that is. Its actually alot of fun. After dying like 5 million times coz of wild animals eating me, I found a player and he was chilled with me building by his place. We had an understanding lol. Mainly I hunt all his animals and I wont try kill him every chance I get ^.^

So I went and bought Banished last night on steam...... it's pretty cool and has a harsh learning curve...aka I have killed my small town quite a few times Have to say it and Don't Starve are likely my two most favorite strategy games.

It definitely has a harsh learning curve. I have a very nice population graph that falls precipitously at one point (I somehow managed to save them). One thing I've noticed is that you can have a lovely booming town... and then some massive disaster strikes and all your surpluses are no more. So there is still challenge even when you do manage to build up your map.

I LOVE BANISHED
Here's what I do:
If you're on a good river spot or a lake build a fishing shack. After that build 5 houses for your familys. (each person uses about 100 food a year so if you've got 4 workers and are making less than 400 food wait a few years for the supply of fish to up itself, you can check your production levels with the @ looking button on the menus for the buildings).
Away from the houses which I later turn into a town square area I build a combo of forester huts, woodcutters, hunters, gatherers (make the most food early) a barn and a 4x4 lot for firewood. Have 2 people work the forester huts planting and cutting, the wood cutter will take the wood turn it into firewood very quickly due to low travel time to the lot. The hunters and gatherers should be maxed and they will make a lot of food/leather being in a dense forest.
Really important not to build houses in the circle of the foresters hut for max gains. Also really important is to not build too many houses early and buildings which require a larger population (market & tavern arent that important and neither are mines and quarries early). You want to be making a large surplus of food every year and only build houses when there are 10 year old children both a male and female, this guarantees they will be "married" and have kids. My best town has ~150 population and I'm transitioning into farming which is particularly challenging.
