| Am sometimes around VIP's at work, they're just normal people and have flesh and bones and everything. I guess am not that bothered unless it is someone I admire or look up to their work or something passionate about them. My dialect drifts from commoner slang, to a few words randomly out of the blue pronounced very posh. I can try act posh and say How do you do Sir? As I have to speak like that and can't go Awrite mate?! Have done that before and people I was speaking to, the public really took the piss outta me lol was jokes. Have to remind myself to act proper. Few days ago at work, midst a conversation with middle aged coworker who was middle class, didn't really know him but am used to speaking to people differently. So I just went erm Be right back, really do needta go for a piss! The reaction was then i couldn't stop giggling in the ladie's room. | |

| Yeah, they can be very chill. When they're not working or whatever, they just want to feel at home and all. I got him a good deal on a rent stabilized apartment a few floors above my old office. He'd come visit us to steal our WiFi and got him to play at one of the balls I organized. But when he plays solo, his music style is different, and people didn't give him the respect he deserves, thinking he's going to play Satana everywhere he goes. A lot of people in bands do their own side projects.
Meanwhile I've known some indie folk artists who get all stuck up when the radio doesn't even play them. | |

But seriously, all I ever see on forums and blogs across the net is folk talking about shit, looking for everybody else to say their shit smells good. And then they smell somebody else's shit and they act like that shit smells. Folk are so judgmental of anything they can't fully relate to or anything that isn't perceived as cool or the "in" topic to discuss. I think everyone is a herb on some level.
Which all goes back to tribalism.
- Quote :
- According to a study by Robin Dunbar at the University of Liverpool, primate brain size is determined by social group size. Dunbar's conclusion was that the human brain can only really understand a maximum of 150 individuals as fully developed, complex people (see Dunbar's number). Malcolm Gladwell expanded on this conclusion sociologically in his book, The Tipping Point. According to these studies, then, "tribalism" is in some sense an inescapable fact of human neurology, simply because the human brain is not adapted to working with large populations. Beyond 150, the human brain must resort to some combination of hierarchical schemes, stereotypes, and other simplified models in order to understand so many people.
