I am such a fail!

I think that DDO seriously doesn't like me I had issues on my last computer, which thanks to Anto got fixed, but then that comp went to the great word processor in the sky. Now I have a new comp, running windows seven, more processing power than they had on the Apollo missions and 3Gb graphics memory. So I should be set to go right? Wrong - I can't even see anything to create a character and even if a I create a random blank me, then if I try to enter the game it crashes. Can one of you uber cyber genii help me? Or should I put my computer back in the box and send it back because I am too stupid to deserve it?

Been looking through the DDO forums for you and there's a few people having the same problems. Ultimately it seems to be a graphics card and driver compatibility issue. What is the model of your graphics card?

My computer -> properties -> advanced system settings -> hardware -> device manager -> display adapter to find it

Can't guarantee anything, but it'll give us a starting point to help.

EDIT:

Couple things that may help, have been working for some people. Try running in compatibility mode for Windows Vista (temp fix, but a fix nonetheless). Or try manually updating the drivers for your video card. A computer that's been in the box for a few months does not necessarily have the newest drivers.

i'm just guessing, but it might be a directX issue.

what you can do to see if it is:

log in, at the character selection/creation screen, go to options. select your graphics options.

look for a drop box "graphics hardware level"

if it says directx10, switch it to directx9

exit the game and restart the client and see if that helps

honestly I had more computing power on my TI-35 than they did on the apollo space missions, but like tod said a voice of the master works well to increase your xp, ship buffs too or you can get xp elixer from ddo store.

Voice of master you get from the Delera Series at the end of the chain.

Yeah I've never rolled a rogue so I am clueless (other than splashing 2 levels into my fighter and melee sorcerer, which doesn't count).
