| My son Michael (pokelink) has joined the game, and the guild. Despite whatever I might tell him, I'm his dad how the hell would I know anything, he wants other opinions and additional input.
I think I may have convinced him to wait on buying the artificer class and get adventure packs, not an easy feat as I'm his dad and know nothing about the game.
After buying Catacombs and STK he has 1650 pts left. I am advising (while the 35% off sale is going) that he should get :
Delera's 553 (reg 850) VoN 488 (reg 750) Sentinels 293 (reg 450) P. Carnival 293 (reg 450)
this total comes to 1627.
His toon is level 6 and I think he would get the most from these packs. We are looking for other opinions in the matter on what he might want to pick up now, and what can wait.

| Just my humble opinion, but I think that is a bit heavy on lower level packs. Yes, good for epics later on, but I would get Vale, Delera's, and maybe Demon Sands personally. However that would leave little epics to run later on (only Demon Sands is epic out of those). I'm not sure how much that would be, but Vale to me is a must have (3 raids, 2 adventure areas, 5 quests, lots of end game loot).
Keep in mind, if he really does like DDO and he wants to chip in on it, the 50 buck X-pack will come with 4 adventure packs of its own:
Phiarlan Carnival Attack on Stormreach The Path of Inspiration The Dreaming Dark
While the 80 buck pack, while pricey yes, includes those 4 and also these:
Vault of Night The Red Fens Sentinels Stormreach Devil Assault
Maybe have him register here? Probably best to help him out with more input, so we can make suggestions based on his play-style and preferences.

| I will agree it is heavy on lower packs, and Vale is a MUST have. Del's and VoN aren't too bad though and he should be able to earn a fair bit of pts if he makes 3 more toons and runs them all through what he has.
He normally resides with my mother and therefore it could be another 3-6 months before he gets another $25 card. The chance of him being able to buy the X-pack are slim to none
edit: Vale, Delera's, and Sands comes to 1659... don't know if the 10% off coupon works on sale items...

| the 10% off should work on his whole order, whether on sale or not from what I understand. Should be able to see what it comes up to without buying it on his account.
I'm in agreement though, vale is a must have. I'm personally not a big fan of delera's, I can't stand playing them more than once per life. If it wasn't for the voice I don't think I'd do much of anything in there. I much prefer Gianthold personally. Of course you have to plan within your point means.

| hmm, I think that coupon may have stopped then, might have been up to sunday? I don't know when they start and stop :/
I would say have him get to 100 favor fast and then get them.

| I tried using the code on Saturday and it didn't work either Have to agree with my learnéd colleagues here though! House P and Sentinels are not essential for capping a toon and you'll never cap without the Vale! Then, once capped you can do favour farms to try to save up enough to get other packs. | |

| My advice is to find out which packs your son wants and then recommend them to him. | |
