| I just wonder what people use, and what kind of settings they get and aim for?
I just picked up this card for my kid, seems like a steal at 45 bucks after a rebate. Anyone here already have one? Not expecting ultra at 1080p, but kid's pc needed an upgrade.
I use a hd 7950 myself. its an xfx and it runs pretty hot but never hiccups on 1080p ultra/extreme.

| I'm running a rather mediocre card, due to low funds these days.
MSI N750TI-2GD5/OC G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card
Can't post a link, since I'm still a new member, apparently.
Not amazing or anything, but it does run me basicely everything. Except goddamn AC unity. Did get a refund for it tho, so all is good~

| The 750ti is a pretty solid base level card. Its highly recommended for people who don't wanna get something heavier. With that said, I see no reason why your kid won't love that card either | |

| yea the 750ti are supposed to be good cards. the 750 i grabbed is probably not as good as my 7950 but its 1/3rd the price so hoping everyone is happy with it. the main reason i got it was price and maintenance. my 7950 needs to be cleaned out every couple months or it runs hot. i had to install 2 case fans and mod the case just because the thing tends to run so hot. i kind of wanted to avoid any of that for now | |

| That's a solid card for a kid, kind of like a car- can't expect something new and shiny at first, but that card will work for now.
Got a GTX 980M here, in a laptop. Plays anything and everything at max settings. It is the best card out right now in terms of power vs price, and one of the best non dual options in it's own right.

Yea, exactly. He isn't greedy, but for 45 bucks this card is a steal and a decent upgrade for him. Looks like I am outnumbered by nvidea cards lol. I have to admit, the AMD drivers are horrible.

Looks like I am outnumbered by nvidea cards lol. I have to admit, the AMD drivers are horrible. Mostly due to AMD being a terrible company. They released faulty drivers for several games on purpose, due to bribes. They mostly kept it quiet, but they got sued by Ubisoft, for the launch of unity and watchdogs, being destroyed on purpose by them. I basicely refuse to go near them.

I basicely refuse to go near them. I wouldn't say they're all that bad, cheap as hell. That's for sure. A good start for someone who wants to learn how to build a PC, but once you get that itch, you'll want to upgrade soon enough to Intel. The reliability is nigh perfection. But unless you're wanting to build a supercomputer, AMD is a nice way to go If we're going to talk about bribing though, give this a wee look: http://www.engadget.com/2014/06/12/intel-loses-eu-antitrust-appeal/?ncid=rss_truncated Using a 770, normally ultra settings work fine for me, thirty six gig ram, good I7, fun times at my end
