Will this work on my laptop and is it free the whole time? I heard (like wow) its only free up to a certain level.

There are free quests available throughout, but at some point most people want to buy a few. You can easily get to level 10 (out of 20 levels) without buying anything, though I did feel like I was missing out on some fun stuff starting around level 7 or 8 I think. There are some quests that are pay to play and pretty much must have at higher levels.

My lappy is fairly old (no dual core processor etc) but DDO works fine as long as I use directX 9 and low graphics. Dunno exactly what the system requirements are, so not sure how it will work on your system, Mikhaila.

thankiess I play guild wars and had the graphics tweaked low and it lagged haven't played for a month cause of it. Will see if ddo works

Yes its free all the way you can earn IG points to buy Adventure packs and stuff and ways to farm extra points. Some packs are allot more important than others.

Its always important to take a elf girl as well.

What I would recomend for new players is to ask about and get some advice on a build for your char, its not so important at low levels, but as you go up having the wrong stats in the wrong place can make a difference.

Can "girls" be dwarfs? or are they just male? I want to be a cleric and a dwarf one seems best but I want to be a girl

And yes, it is 100% free, but if you like it you will want to spend 5 buck minimum to unlock 'premium' status for permanence at least..

You can technically own the entire game without paying a cent, ever. There are quite a few guides to that. Personally, I liked the game enough to spend some coin.

I also don't think it's very realistic, because the amount of time it would cost to earn enough in game money to buy all the stuff, well it's how a company makes money.

But yea, you can play for months without spending a dime and figure out if its something you want to spend on and by then, you will have earned enough in game revenue to buy a good part of the game...

Ah nice I have 10 min left on the download...games HUGE. I will try it out and see how I like it.

Personally games I like I spend money on getting pretty clothes for my chars hence why I asked if dwarfs could be girls lol

Anyone know how to get rid of the " falling snow"? Tried the graphic settings but there doesn't seem to have enviro effects.

not sure, think if you put graphics to low it might stop it

Finally got talked back into this . . . plus it finally works decent on my comp for whatever reason (was super laggy when I was playing like a year ago).

I'm the same person Barrahir . . . level 4 Ranger/3 Warrior and surprised my character still exists, lol. Can I hop back in the guild? I plan on being a regular player now that it works again.

Snow still wont stop and its lagging my comp..though I can live with it. Got it on lower settings and may give the other laptop a go with this... *shrugs* on the bright side I think i am almost level 3 Hubby called me a Geek today too

I gave it a try, put about 2 hours into it. But it was just... meh. Compared to the other MMO's I've played, it just didn't fit.. though I guess for those who enjoy the freebieness of it, that part is pretty awesome In fact I went on a try-tangent of a bunch of games. LOTRO, Perfect World, DDO, and 3-4 others whose names I can't recall. And it's a no-go for any of em.
