Changes to DDO forums

The DDO forums are undergoing a change and will be read only for this coming week while the changes are made. I haven't been paying too much attention but one difference will be that your game login and your forum login will now be the same. It's all down for maintenance right now but I'll find a link to the changes later today.

About time, I lost my password for the forum once and I had to contact customer service to get a new password..

There were a lot of doom threads about the loss of myddo and the switch to the login for the forum. I swear some folk only play these games just to have somewhere to whine and feel aggrieved.

Well, the new ddo forums are up along with a new front page for the site. And of course, there are mess ups.

All links have changed for threads because the forum url has changed, so ppl are moaning about that. And you can only stay logged in for a very short time before you are logged out. And ... they messed up the migration of forum accounts for a lot of people.

The idea was that you log in with your game information to the forum. Yup, that works. And then if you had a different forum user name to your game user name, that would then be your display name. Except that most players have found that when they log in the first time to the new forum, they are being asked to choose a new display name as the one they had before is 'not allowed'. And then they discover that they now have a spanking new forum account ... losing all their history and stuff. If you want your old forum account to be associated with the new forum account you then have to submit a ticket about it.

Lots of whining and complaints going on. It's a bit poo over there really right now.

yea, i cant log into the ddo forum either.

There was some forum maintenance today to fix the migration of forum accounts issue and everyone should be able to log in once more, using their IG name and password, and have the correct forum account associated with it.

If not, Cordovan gives the following advice:
