| I hope I am not overstepping here, but I think that we are probably going to need a couple of areas to discuss different aspects of game development. So, I am opening a couple of threads to allow for that. So, this is where we can discuss the technical side of the game. Ideas are easy but putting them into practice is harder. Some things that I have found out in my research. First things first, what platform are we going to use?
- Browser based? (it would have to be stable on Firefox, Chrome, Opera, IE (bleh) ..)
- Mobile compatible? (Ios and android)
- Downloadable? (opens up using established game engines like Blender Engine, Cryengine, Tiled, Unity, Lumberyard .. )
Once that is decided, then it will be down to how it will be scripted and secured from being hacked. If using an engine, do we allow gamer modding? If browser based, do we go with HTML5 and Javascript? Just me adding these things to kick off the discussion, plus this is needed so firm discussion can begin on what can or can't be implemented from the ideas generation. | |

| Libgdx makes it very easy to implement a game on multiple platforms including android and browser based and makes use of LWJGL's Opengl Bindings. | |

| I think we'd have to go with browser based to start, otherwise we are completely reliant on sales revenue and kickstarter type fund raising. | |

| And I do realize this is not some money making endeavor, but we will want something that can pay for it's own server costs. | |

| That is true, I remember playing minecraft in a browser. However I do think HTML5 and friends is the way to go. | |
