| She entered the embassy, a wide smile on her face. She took a look around, trying to find her homologue Devin. The embassy was quiet so she took a seat and waited for him. | |

| Sowilo took the bottle and looked at Devin pouring some tea.
Well thank you Sir! If you don't mind...
She opened up the gift and drank out of the bottle. Satisfied, she gave him a radiant smile.
God this feels great! I haven't had a sip for months now. My personnal reserve has been dried out since everyone I've met wanted to taste Irish whisky.
She paused, took another shot and continued...
See, I've been advertising for you freely in Britanny. I'm Irish myself by the way. I've grown up here in Galway.
She presented him the bottle and said:
You want me to share?
She winked at him.
As for the tea, thank you so much but I prefer strong booze. In Britanny they drink prune, cider or chouchen which are actually way too sweet for me. Though, if you want to taste our national products...
She took three bottles out of her bag along with three tiny glasses. While opening the first bottle...
This one is chouchen. If you come and visit some day you'll find this in every tavern instead of beer. It's an alcohol made out of honey. It's a bit like mead but not really.
She poured the yellow liquid into the first glass and putted back the cork. Then she took the second bottle and started the same scenario...
This is called prune. This one is very special and rare. You'll be able to find it mostly in St Pol de Léon. They have a family distillery there. It's made out of plums and it's more syrupy.
She smiled, and took the last bottle.
This is Britanny's national speciality: cider. From what I know, only 4 people are actually producing this bubbling beverage. It's made out of apple and is probably the one I prefer.
She poured the cider into the last glass and waited to hear his comments.

| I believe Sowilo speaks of Galway, in Ireland, love. It's what we now called An Gort, our home. Now, why the Scots call southern Scotland Galloway, I would have to ask Tod if he is well read in Gallowegian history. She smiles at Sowilo. It is very nice to meet you, Sowilo. I do hope that your travels here were without too much trouble. She turned to Tod. The least I could do is prepare dinner for you and your lovely wife. I did miss your wedding, afterall. I was a bit...predisposed, in my mind, though that's of no excuse. Mi casa, esu casa. Please feel free to stay as long as you wish. Speaking of home, I think I may head there in a bit for a nap, if I'm not needed here? | |

| Sowilo saw a man who entered the embassy and spoke to Devin ignoring her presence completly... She looked at him and presented herself.
Pleased to meet you Sir! I'm Sowilo de Burgo, new ambassador for Britanny in Chonnacht.
She smiled and then turned to Devin, an amused smile on her face, and listened to him.

As she wanted to answer a lady made her entry. She giggled and took another sip of whisky.
It's a pleasure to meet you too madam. I guess you are Elois, the Scottish chef.
She smiled and listened quietly.
When Elois asked if she was needed or not, Sowilo added...
Well, if you are not in a rush, maybe you could taste our national beverages. Come and have a seat if you please.
Turning to Devin...
So you are Dutch. This is a country I must visit someday. I've heard Dutchmen were mostly trilingual so this will help.
And you like wine. Good to know. On my next visit I'll bring you some bottles. Any vine in particular?
She paused and continued...
And your a bard also. My grandpa was a fiddler so I've learned to play violin. Haven't touched one for a while though. Would you mind to play a few songs?
As for Galway, it was Connacht's capitol city when I was living here. This has changed? | |

when I see you all I can do is smile because of you.
And when im near you im not alone its the only time I fell at home
and when say I love you my hearts it flys you know its true.
But when your gone im broke it two half a man an't that cruel

| Sowilo listens to the song and enjoys its lyrics.
Your wife is a lucky lady Sir Devin. And I guess you're a lucky man too.
She smiles at him and at the same moment her attaché comes in, a worried look on his face.
Demat Gontrand! Que se passe-t-il?
The man smiled to Devin before presenting a scelled letter to Sowilo.
C'est un envoi du Grand Duc madame. Ça ne présage rien de bon.
Sowilo brokes the sceal and starts to read.
Effectivement Gontrand, ce ne sont pas de bonnes nouvelles. Je vous remercie. Préparez le navire pour un départ imminent et avertissez-moi quand tout sera fin prêt.
She turns to Devin, a sad look on her face.
Sir, I've just learned that our Duchy is currently at war with the Royal French Crown. This wil probably be a long and bloody one since the French Queen, Nebisa, called to arms all her vassals, the Royal Domains, for a confrontation against the Ponant Alliance. That said, you will understand that I must leave as soon as possible to go and help my Breton fellows.
Gontrand, au boulot, et que ça saute! Ouste!
After giving her orders, she waited to see Devin's reaction.

| Well Sir, t'was a pleasure again to meet you.
I will be available in Britanny's embassy if you're interested to be kept informed about the current war.
Sowilo stands up, takes the whiskey bottle and puts it in her bag.
Thanks for the gift Sir. Don't know how long it will last but be sure to bring some casks if you decide to come and visit our lands.
Oh! And by the way, if you are still willing to trade, I'm sure we could use iron. Lots of swords will be needed so...
She smiled and left. | |
