How's life treating ya?

One of Chris's dogs became a new mummy last night. We were all very excited to begin with.
I was the last one to leave her side after she popped out 3 tiny little things at 11pm last night. I covered them and warmed them, it was cold out but Chris's dad refused ro have them inside.
I checked on them once more about 1am, everything seemed fine. They were all snuggled, New mum was exhausted.

Get woken up at 7am by Chris's mum clutching on of the new pups (The fattest one, we nicknamed it fat Steve) and he'dpassed away overnight sometime, apparently new mum had pushed the pup out of the nest and left him to die.

We are not sure if there was anything wrong with it, been reading all morning and all its made me feel is guilty for leaving the dogs side and leaving them out side. I feell so bad

Maybe the puppy died during the night, and that's why it was pushed out? That sounds more likely to me, than the mother dog just pushing it out to die.

That's what I was thinking Spring, but when it came out it seemed healthy. He was the fattest one.

I am so sorry to here about the loss of the puppy Ahlia. Don't feel guilty about it, it truly isn't your fault. Sometimes pups don't make it through the night, there could have been some congenital defect that wasn't apparent to the naked eye, you never know. At least you have the joy of the remaining pups and some consolation that they will most likely turn out healthier now because the mum will have more time and milk for them.

Went on a spur of the moment walk across local moorlands considering the sun was out in force today. Ended up walking god knows how many miles and at one point climbing down a cliff basically.



And considering i'm really not an 'adventure sport' kinda person it was interesting. But anyway got some good photos of the day's sudden adventure.

Seeing as the last photos went down well, thought I would share this one a friend posted today.

Very picturesque!  Love it.

This is how things went down this morning:

1)  Starts storming like crazy.
2)  Power goes out at about 4 AM.
3)  Husband's phone starts going crazy with emergency alerts shortly after.  It nearly got a flying lesson.  Getting jolted awake truly pisses me off.  I don't sleep well to begin with, m'kay?  Also not a morning person.
4)  Power does NOT come back on.  This means no A/C, no fan.  It gets warm and sticky fast here without these things.  For those of you in the gutter right now this is NOT a good warm and sticky.  This means yours truly did not get any more sleep.
5)  Had to get ready for work in the dark.
6)  Power came back on 20 minutes after I left.  Assholes.

As Donnor so accurately put it earlier...  I'm sporting the grunge look today, and a very foul temper.

Okay, so here's an update from yesterday...

We had very dangerous storms last night and into today.  Tornado warnings.  Going outside in the evening looked like a strobe like in the sky because there was so much constant lightning.  I laid awake in bed watching the flashes and listening to thunder.  Later into the night/into the morning the rain, wind and lightning was so severe, there were cracks every couple seconds, right on top of us.  It actually scared both of us, and this kind of stuff never bothers me.

We've been under constant flood warnings, tornado warnings, weather channel said 22"+ in the last 24 hours.  Two of the three bridges to work were closed.  The third, which is out of the way, had a halfway flooded road to it.  My coworker, who was ahead of me, called and left 3 voice messages while I was out of service telling me to turn around.  Finally got back into service and she was almost panicked because the water on the road came up to the floorboards of her car.  Said cops were pushing people off of roads, cars scattered everywhere.  Told me it was dangerous, do not come over the bridge, turn my ass around and go home.

Evidently the garage at work is under feet of water, the driveway is falling in, and one of the houses across the retention pond is about to fall into the pond.

Edit: I believe the area has declared a state of emergency as well.

ermagerd! Those pictures really are scary.  I am so glad that you and your family are safe and I will pray for those people that have been affected by this.

I know I talked to you already earlier, but hoping it's settled down a bit there, Morg? Hoping and still sending positive thoughts your all's way!

btw, those same storms caught here too, a house across the street from me got struck by lightening and almost burnt to the ground. Thankfully the man who lived there was able to make it out. Kiddo and me watched it happen from our front window, was crazy scary.

Thanks for the positive wishes guys. We were lucky. There are thousands of people who didn't make it through this unscathed. Many roads are gone, bridges, cars, homes, businesses. This is going to take years to recover from.

Things have calmed down, Trin, but the forecast says to expect more rain. There are areas under flood warning until Sunday.

I'm glad you made it though alright as well. I'll be keeping those less fortunate, like your neighbors Trin, in my thoughts...

Special shout out to Toasti who Kiked me this morning when she saw on the news what was happening in my area to make sure we were okay. That was so heartwarming, and a perfect example of why I love you all!

 
When I count a person as my friend, I mean it. And all the things that come with that. Spanning from drunk texts to TMI to honest concern over your well-being. When you are a member of the elite group called "Friends of Jen", you get all these things and more! (whether you want them or not!)    

Honestly though, glad you guys made it out ok.

PS: And THAT is why I am afraid of big storms!!

Made it to work today. Not surprisingly the internet is down so for the moment our work consists of answering phones and updating people. But I did get to see some of the damage done to the property. Here you go:

I'm finally coming out of hiding for a little while. Life's been really uncertain lately with trying to find a job and working on my business. I really need a routine again, one where I don't forget to feed my RK character.

Damn Morg! O.o Yeah thank goodness ya'll are ok, be lucky if that's all it costs :/ been sitting here listening/watching folks put a new roof on that house across the street, about to gather up some food/drinks I bought earlier and take it over here in a minute.
