Well me and Trin were talking about food in the tav today, and I had chicken breasts topped with bacon with sweet potato done in honey, , and it got us talking on the deliciousness of meals we can make, so I'm making this topic for any awesome meals that any of us make in the future, to spread the ideas. Bonus points for pictures!

Should I share my meal plan with y'all? I can show you last months and this months.

Last month I lost 2 kilos by sticking to it mixed with portioning and taking care of myself.

There is however no meat on the list, but it can be substituted in Smile

Some noms I have made for those lucky bastards at work:

The Food Thread 4198F365-182E-4326-AC70-350E9033416C-3419-0000083D71011182_zps1236dd5d

As my handy sign indicates, those are crab & chive deviled eggs. They are amazing. I learned of them from my hairdresser. I made them for a retirement party where a coworker's husband loved them so much, he kissed my hands.
This is the recipe.

Also--pro tip for deviled egg transport: don't buy those fancy egg carriers. Cut your egg carton and wrap it in cling wrap. Place your deviled eggs in the wrapped divets (google it for better instructions).

And for tomorrow, for the new guy:

Bacon wrapped dates. Don't knock em till you try em. I had them two years in a row at a catered event at the Federal Courthouse. I tried one tentatively, then went back and ate the whole platter (not really...promise!). I made this batch a little extra-crispy cuz they have to last till tomorrow for lunch.

bacon wrapped dates = devils on horseback Very Happy

I don't eat bacon of course, but still I know that. Sad really

I have been using this new nutrition plan and after a year of struggling, my blood glucose levels dropped from 30 ave to 6 (between 4 and 7 is normal). It was my op that put my body into a spin, and took me taking the initiative and researching things to sort it. Meh, who needs doctors?

Thought I would share this, especially as it is scientific fact - chicken soup is good for you Razz

10 minute chicken noodle soup

This is such a versatile dish - it's ideal for using
up leftover veg and you can use any type of
meat. An almost instant meal in a bowl!
Serves: 4 adults
Preparation time: 3 mins
Cooking time: 7 mins
Ingredients:
125g medium or fine dried egg noodles
1.2 litres reduced salt vegetable or chicken stock
300g frozen or fresh stir-fry vegetables
250g skinless, boneless roast chicken breasts sliced
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 tbsp reduced salt soy sauce
What to do:
1. Put the noodles into a heatproof bowl and cover them with boiling water. Leave to soak for 6 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, pour the stock into a large saucepan and bring up to the boil. Add the vegetables and
simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Drain the noodles, then add them to the saucepan with the sliced chicken. Season with pepper. Heat for
1-2 minutes, then ladle into bowls.
4. Serve each portion sprinkled with a few drops of soy sauce.
Tip 1: This is a great way to make the most of any fresh vegetables that need to be used up.
Tip 2: If you like things spicy, add a few fine slices of fresh red or green chilli, or a pinch of dried chilli flakes.
Nutritional information:
Per portion (i.e. ¼ recipe)
245kcals / 1025kJ
26g protein
4g fat of which 1g saturates
26g carbohydrate of which 4g sugars
3g dietary fibre

Bacon wrapped anything is good! haha, gonna make a pork loin wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cheese etc one day this week when I feel up to it. That sounds great Bekah! Hubby took me out with some friends of ours for lunch yesterday (was really sweet of him too btw) and I had this chicken tortilla soup that was kick ass and great for the sinuses lol thought i'd try to replicate it some time soon, really good when ur sick and have no taste buds either.

Chicken Tortilla Soup:

1 onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes

1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed chicken broth

1 1/4 cups water

1 cup whole corn kernels, cooked

1 cup white hominy

1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chile peppers

1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

2 boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and cut into bite-sized pieces

crushed tortilla chips

sliced avocado

shredded Monterey Jack cheese

chopped green onions

Directions

In a medium stock pot, heat oil over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic in oil until soft. Stir in chili powder, oregano, tomatoes, broth, and water. Bring to a boil, and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
Stir in corn, hominy, chiles, beans, cilantro, and chicken. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Ladle soup into individual serving bowls, and top with crushed tortilla chips, avocado slices, cheese, and chopped green onion.

this recipe isn't exactly what i'd had but pretty darn close I'm sure. typically i use a site called www.allrecipes.com or www.ivillage.com which I've used for years. lots of good stuff or to use to find something ur craving lol.

I'm currently on my 10th slice of Toast.  First 4 had BBQ sauce, the next 4 had cheese and BBQ sauce and the last 2 had coleslaw and rashers.

I usually just live with hunger or sleep off hunger because if I ate every time I got hungry I wouldn't get fat (I know for a fact) I'd just waste a lot of money that my family could spend on bills or something useful. The bread is going out of date tomorrow so i'm taking advantage Razz
Keep in mind, I eat like normal, it's my metabolism that insists that my body needs like 4X the amount an average person eats.
Anyone know of cheap stuff that my body will think it filling food?

Most often times when you think you feel hungry, your body is actually thirsty. Or at least thats what I've heard or read. Try drinking more water

This is going to sound very peculiar, but liquidise your food.  Make soups using potato as a base (carbohydrate is filling).  Surveys have shown that food taken in liquidised form allows you to feel fuller for up to 3 hours longer than if you ate the same amount of food in solid form.  I don't recommend doing what the experimenters did unless you fancy drinking a burger and fries, but some foods are really tasty in liquid from.  Also drink at least half a pint of water ten minutes before eating anything and that will reduce the amount of food you will want to eat.

Remember though, you are at a stage in your life where you are still growing and your body needs proper nutrients, so don't worry if you eat a lot, just make sure that you eat a variety of foods and include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your diet.  If your body is getting the correct nutrients your appetite diminishes too.

Another natural appetite suppressant you might like to try is nettle tea.  Its tastier than it sounds :DIf you drink one cup in the morning it will reduce your appetite throughout the day.  Also stay away from highly processed foods as they are rapidly digested by the body and will leave you feeling hungrier.

Nuts and seeds are good foods to snack on as they give you energy over a longer period of time and don't cause an energy spike like sugary foods do.  Sugary foods will also make you eat more because they cause a spike in your blood glucose levels and then a corresponding sharp dip and that will lead you to eat more.

By the way, not trying to sound like a bore with that, but you asked and I wanted to help Very Happy
