| Best RPG's of any platform or year:
In no order:
Buck Rogers (Commodore 64) Quest for Glory (PC) Baldur's Gate I & II (PC, although the Xbox version was incredibly fun multiplayer) Elder Scrolls: Morrowind & Skyrim (PC) - I pass on Oblivion Fallout 3 (Xbox 360) Mass Effect (Various platforms) Ogrebattle 64 (Nintendo 64) Hybrid Heaven (N64) Legend of Zelda (SNES version was my favorite)
I've played a bit of Dragon Age: Origins as well, and it is really cool, but I didn't have time to fully immerse. Seems like a solid RPG that might make my list as well. I am forgetting a lot of games as well.
Honorable Mentions:
Fable 2
(post will be updated as I remember)

| Me too Aidann, the only RPG games I play are:
Lords RK and the Zombies one
I thought I was a gamer, but when I realise that I only play one other online game and a couple of games on steam - I am not much of a gamer at all. So what do I do with my time?

| I've not had anytime whatsoever to really do anything other than throw out some shitty posts on RK. However, did catch a commercial earlier while cleaning about a game that looked super cool, kinda an RPG? Not sure haven't looked it up yet, it's new:
Assassins Creed IV Black Flag for XBOX.

Without a doubt three of the best RPG titles right there, I'd recommend them if you could actually find copies anymore, but I doubt there are many, or many online downloads. I know Steam currently sells the re-launch Might and Magic Title, and with that comes the free download of Might and Magic VI but not sure about the others.

| I have always wanted to play a free roam game as a pirate. I managed to find a Russian made game called Seadogs, which is as close as I have been, it wasn't a bad game but it wasn't great either. I am hoping Black flag can live up to it, but GTA V was the last Playsation 3 game I planned on getting, it's all about wanting the PS4 for Christmas now where RPG games will look fantastic with the new graphics, all being well!

There is an old-games website where you can download many of the Might and Magic games. You are only able to download 2 files a day for free. I think most of the games are abandonware...but you never know. As for my favorites: Dragon Warrior (NES) FF VII (PS-1) Legend of the Red Dragon (text)

| Both wife and older daughter have started to complain about the shanties playing all day. Getting comments like "why don't you play the missions". I guess they are tired of me sailing around sinking ships all day along...

| Basically you play as a privateer called Nicholas. He has had a calling for the sea all his fatherless childhood and eventually gets the opportunity to captain a English naval ship. As he leaves Portsmouth his mother explains that his missing father was in fact a privateer. The intro below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbPE2kjzC68
From there you take control of the character and do various missions for people you meet in the towns, hire crew in taverns on various islands, take missions from the island governors and can request letters of marque for the English, French or Spanish. Or you can go Pirate. Obviously going pirate means everyone is after you and the majority of island forts shoot on sight, there are 2 islands for pirates but the pirate vessels treat each ship as fair game, though the island it's self is safe. All the time you play as a privateer or pirate, Nicholas's personal goal is to find his father or news about his father who was a famed pirate in the archipelago. The more missions you do, the more goods you trade, the bigger class of ship you can purchase and can sink, plunder or capture enemy ships. You need to work up experience to unlock the bigger class of ships. You can also recruit specialist characters to act as first mate, surgeon, carpenter etc to make your ship more effective in battle. If you sail for a nation and raid another nations island fort successfully, you have the option to plunder the island or change its national allegiance. You can also come across certain individuals who, if your reputation is high enough (or low enough for pirates), some captains will join you and form a fleet. It's a free roam, but the missions are structured but you can also sail upon random events such as naval battles or you come under attack by Pirates or enemy nation's navies. It's also an old game 2004 maybe, and Russian, so expect typos. But it's one of my favorites due to the lack of good Pirate Freeroam games around. Worth checking out and I doubt it will take much to run, if you find it probably be less than $5 too.

| It's weird, it looks so familiar. Maybe I tried it awhile back and it didn't take, or didn't work on my machine back then? Who knows.
Another RPG game that needs to be added to the list:
Mount and Blade: Warband

| I've been playing a bit of Dragon Age Origins lately, and it's pretty fun. I guess I was wondering if anyone knew if the other ones were good as well?
It's like Mass Effect but fantasy era. I liked Mass Effect 1 a lot, but only played through that once. I haven't played ME 2 or 3 either, so any word on those would be great too.
Also, has anyone ever played the Witcher 2? It never used to run on my old vid card but is now maxing it out. Seems cool but can only immerse myself in so much at once, as well as a hectic real life; well, yanno.

| I don't know if these count as RPG's. but I love playing Wizard 101 and now Pirate 101 too. Yes, I know they are intended for younger people, but I can't help it if that's my level They are not free to play although they do have free to play areas, but I love the humour in them and graphics are simple enough that my eyes can see what's going on without me getting disoriented like I do with most games. | |

The expansion (Dragon Age: Awakening) was very, very buggy. By that I mean in one instance the floor for the particular map I was on was ABOVE my head. Dragon Age 2's combat beat the first one's by a far cry; that was one of my pet peeves for the first one. Some people didn't care for the second as much as the first but I enjoyed it. Any of the Dead Space series - I don't recommend playing them in the dark, however. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - I cannot give this particular game enough praise. It is, hands down, the most beautiful, visually stunning games I have ever seen. The game play is very smooth, well thought out story line, good mechanics. Even two, nearly three years later a used copy of this game is $35. It's a damn shame one of the producing companies went under... Anyone who enjoys bright/high fantasy needs to play this game.

A good friend of mine works for Wizard 101 and actually did the voice work for a few of the characters!! ....that has got to be the lowest level of name dropping I have ever done.
