haha.. not an easy choice. I went with pre-1900's because at least then most stuff was orignal and new. Too many songs now which give a bit of a deja vu... wtf is it with those horrible remixes ruining good old songs ><
Although I prefer to listen to I suppose 90's-present.

yup, for me too. i could have went with the 60's for zep i guess, since 1 & 2 were released in the 60's, but since the rest were in the 70's that is what pushed me to edge the 70's.
that said, was tough counting out hendrix and the doors early stuff

easy question, except the answer I wanted wasnt up----"all of the above"
LOL!
I voted 90's, and suspect I will be the only one to do so. I picked it, having spent my formative teen years in the midst of that decade, it holds a nostalgic quality. 80's would also. It was more a personal choice vs. picking the best music in history. (I know, shocking that 90's R&B doesn't quite qualify as "best in history")

yeah toasti, there is no 'best' in music and art and theres great stuff from every generation, and every genre, too.
anto, id call zep a 70s band too. and, if not for drugs booze and accidents, maybe the greats would still be playing, and there more trouble pegging them into a time slot, eh? chuck berry is still performing...

A coworker of mine just went to the Chuck Berry show! She said he was amazing and full of vigor! Kinda wish I would have gone.

There is no way that I can narrow it down to a decade. I sing classical, rock and pop as well as listening to it. Historically, the medieval era was an age of great musical creativity even if a lot of the music has been lost over time. Music for me is all about mood, I write best listening to Vivaldi or bach, but draw better listening to HIM or Bitter Ruin (my cousin ). I think the only music I have been unable to relate to is R'n B (as opposed to R & B) and some Rap - which I find to aggressive and derogatory. Ultimately, I am a rock chick, but not exclusively
So yes Anto, very hard question for me, but an interesting one.
and all this written while watching this on telly >>

There would be no Marilyn Manson cover, no Flo Rida sampling, and worst of all, no Meatspin if not for Pete Burns.
And the Wedding Singer wouldn't have been as funny if not for his rival, Boy George.
Without Whitesnake, the girl in 1985 would have to consider shaking her ass on the hood of another car.
Without Steve Perry, there'd be no Glee, Season 1.
And Depeche Mode. Gah, just, gah, I love all their songs.
Prince. No words needed.
Might as well mention the Prince of Pop(and don't forget Janet).
So I might as well mention Madonna. Not a big fan of hers lately, but pop singers have spent the past 30 years trying to be the next Madonna.
Cher. She might not understand why someone like me would be a Republican but I love that crazy, dyslexic bitch.
Aerosmith, Springsteen, Eurythmics, U2, Poison, Whitney Houston, Guns n Roses, Pat Benetar, Motley Crue, The Police, The Clash, early Beastie Boys, the Cure, Erasure, Van Halen, AC/DC, Duran Duran, the list goes on.

That wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I grew up on the music of the 60s & 70s because that was the music my family was (and still is) into. It will always have a place in my heart.
But I voted for the 80s. Could have also gone with the 90s though.
This is why I never did well on multiple choice question tests. Fill in the blanks or essays? I'm ya girl. Simple shit like this.....
